Election Day Coverage at Night Kitchen Bakery!

Hurricane Sandy was a tropical cyclone that devastated much of New Jersey, parts of New York, and wreaked havoc throughout the Northeast. The Breslow Partners team was so fortunate to have remained safe throughout the storm. We would like to express our deepest sympathies to those affected by the devastation, and hope that your families are safe and sound!

Governor Chris Christie, one of Romney’s top supporters, has been quoted praising President Obama for his work and support of New Jersey throughout Hurricane Sandy and the recovery process. He said, “It’s been very good working with the president. He and his administration have been coordinating with us. It’s been wonderful.” We’re sure this has many wondering how this will affect the election today!

This has certainly been an interesting election campaign for both candidates! We have been watching closely, especially because Night Kitchen Bakery has been conducting a Straw Poll since August! They have been making shortbread cookies with vanilla icing. The blue cookies are for Obama and the red ones are for Romney. Obama has been consistently winning throughout the Chestnut Hill bakery’s poll, and this week the numbers spiked to 1,112 for Obama and 163 for Romney.

If the Night Kitchen Bakery’s polls are anything like the election, then Obama will be winning by a landslide! We cannot wait to find out who the next President will be. If you’re looking for a great way for your children to cast their vote today, why not do so with a delicious candidate cookie?

Night Kitchen Bakery is located at 7725 Germantown Avenue. For more information visit www.nightkitchenbakery.com or call 215.248.9235.

Night Kitchen Bakery is Top Five for Wedding Cakes in Philadelphia!

There are cakes that are just desserts, and cakes that are just divine. You know, the kind of cakes made popular by TV bakers like the Cake Boss or Ace of Cakes. And the cakes those TV bakers have made so popular are the kinds of specialty cakes Philadelphia’s most discerning party-givers have been commissioning for decades from Chestnut Hill’s Night Kitchen Bakery.

Night Kitchen’s owners Amy Edelman and husband John Millard encourage the staff to create these custom cakes to suit every occasion. They’ve even made a cello-shaped chocolate cake with a dark chocolate mocha filling for the wedding of two young musicians. That’s why they were voted one of the top five places in Philadelphia for wedding cakes!

When Old School Publicist Talks, Up and Coming Industry Leaders Listen

What do you say when a group of enthusiastic communications students ask if they can come to your office to learn about the life of a real PR person? You say, “Sure thing.” And you hope the visit doesn’t take up too much time. We were excited when we opened the door to 25 West Chester University students from the Public Relations Student Society of America. So we took them upstairs to the president’s office and invited them to spread out.

We had never entertained so many people in that space before. They sat on the chairs. They sat on the floor. And they stood wherever they could find a space. We asked them to tell us a bit about themselves and what they wanted to learn from this visit.

We discussed some of the projects Breslow Partners has worked on. We discussed the industry in general. They wanted to know what a normal day was like. That was hard to say because no two days are even the same. So we talked about the industry in general and specifically how it has changed. We asked them how they get their news. No one read the daily newspapers, they all get their news from Twitter. We told them that good PR people have to read the news, follow reporters, and how being a news junkie is important to being a good PR professional. And we spoke about our hiring process and what we look for when bringing in someone new.  And this visit offered us the perfect opportunity to pitch them on our very popular six-month PR Boot Camp, an intensive training program that offers participants an opportunity to work as account managers. One look and we knew that we had influenced these future leaders. We could tell there was more than one rising star publicist in the group.

We look forward to a day when our professional paths cross. We believe there will always be a place for traditional PR, but as we watch the ways in which social media has influenced the world, we look forward to learning more from this new crop of soon to be college graduates. We’ll be happy to trade them what we know about traditional PR for their insight into social media. Just like so many other industries, PR has changed so much in recent years. We believe there will always be a place for traditional PR, but we cherish the idea of learning about new public relations practices from young, highly motivated and passionate social media experts.

When they left, we heard them saying, “That’s the type of place I want to work at when I intern or graduate!” We had no idea we would have such fun. Breslow Partner’s extensive six-month boot camp provides students with the competitive edge to beat out the competition. Please send resumes or inquiries to tina@breslowpartners.com.

The whole town is talking about Night Kitchen Bakery’s Presidential Straw Poll. The bakery is making blue shortbread cookies for Obama, and red ones for Romney! If you missed the news on Zagat or Foobooz be sure to look out for the story in the Philadelphia Business Journal next week. Even though Mitt Romney seems to be gaining in the polls, Obama is winning by a landside in Chestnut Hill. Last week’s tallies following the debate had Romney at 124 cookies sold compared to Obama’s 807. We look forward to seeing how these upcoming Presidential debates effect the sales. Stay tuned to www.nightkitchenbakery.com for up-to-date results. Amy Edelman and her staff of professional pastry artisans are creating delectable edibles daily at the bakery, located at 7725 Germantown Avenue. Spreading Hope In Our Community

Martin Luther King, Jr. once said that, “everything that is done in the world is done by hope.” For those who are living with HIV/ AIDS, hope is what keeps them going. Help keep their hope alive by participating in the AIDS Walk / Run Philly!

The event will be a 12K walk and a 5K run. There is a registration fee of $50, but participants are encouraged to reach out to sponsors and raise more money for our friends, family, and neighbors. You can register as an individual or form a team of five or more walkers, runners, or volunteers.

Every nine and a half minutes, someone in the United States is infected with HIV.  In the Delaware Valley alone, over 30,000 people are living with HIV/ AIDS. Philadelphia’s infection rate is five times more than the national average. Your participation in the walk on October 21st will help raise awareness and provide funding for health care services and other life-saving programs!

The Philadelphia Aids Walk is also looking for volunteers to help make this event successful, and is always accepting donations! For more information on this event or to register to participate check out: aidswalkphilly.org or aidsrunphilly.org. You can also tweet about this event by hash-tagging #whyiwalk.
