Phillies Opening Day 2011

Come out for the Philadelphia Phillies opening day to see them take on the Houston Astros on Friday, April 1 at 1:05 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park. The club has one of the best pitchers in the league, Roy Halladay. Halladay or Cliff Lee will be making the start for the Phillies.

The Great Chefs Event 2011

The Great Chefs Event is an annual fundraising event that started in 2006 with Philadelphia’s greatest chefs coming together to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in the fight against childhood cancer. The 2011 Great Chefs Event sees the addition of more international great chefs – all to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research and the Vetri Foundation for Children. Annual Family Fun Fishing Derby at Linvilla

Want a relaxing day of outdoor fun with the family? Head to Linvilla Orchards for their Annual Family Fun Fishing Derby on Saturday, April 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Transportation to the pond begins at 8 a.m. The cost is $14.99 per fisherman.

Orchard Lake will be stocked with more than 1,000 fish, which means this event’s perfect for kids.  Pole rental and bait are for sale right on site, plus there’s no license needed.

Lucky fishermen who snag a golden trout or tagged fish will win a prize.  And since the contest’s divided into age groups, even your littlest angler might just have it in the bag. Prizes range from trophies to fishing gear to pie and every contestant receives a free cookie from our bakery. And the look on your child’s face when they catch their first fish is priceless, so don’t forget to bring your camera!
