Retro Pricing at Shank’s!

Shank’s gears up for their 50th Anniversary with Retro Pricing. They’re offering roast pork sandwiches for 79 cents during the entire month of September!

The year was 1962. The Beatles had just invaded America. Johnny Carson launched late night TV.  McDonald’s introduced the 50 cent hamburger. And Shank & Evelyn’s popular luncheonette opened in the Italian Market. But that was then, and this is now. Phil McFillin, the new owner and operator of Shank’s, has stepped in to save the establishment from extinction. He re-created the spirit of the old eatery in a new, convenient location, at 901 South Delaware Avenue (Pier 40, Columbus Boulevard and Christian Street).  With black and white checkerboard tile walls and neon lights that evoke the hearty, homey eateries of the 1950s and 1960s, the new Shank’s Original carries on the legacy started so many years before. More importantly, the new place continues the heritage of good food, with a menu based on Shank’s original recipes.

With anticipation growing, Shank’s decided to start the celebrations early by featuring a different classic sandwich each month at original retro prices! That’s right, everyday for the month of September starting at 2 p.m., Shank’s sumptuous, hot roast pork, dripping with au jus, and nestled between a fresh baked roll will be available for $.79. That’s $6.11 less than today’s menu price. And in this economy, who doesn’t want to save a little money?

Shank’s Original at Pier 40 is located at Columbus Boulevard & Christian Street, Philadelphia, PA 19147 or go to www.shanksoriginal.com for more information.
