Chef Patrick Feury on Fox – tips for your turkey this Thanksgiving

The talented Chef Patrick Feury, of Nectar in Berwyn, appeared on Fox 29’s Good Day Philadelphia this morning sharring helpful tips on how to best prepare your turkey this Thanksgiving. Here’s a few tips he has for you:

Tip #1: Cook the Turkey until it’s 140 degrees internally when you pull it out it will carry over and keep cooking.

Tip #2: Patrick likes to Brine the turkey which seasons it all the way through

Tip #3: Don’t carve as soon as it comes out of the over, let it sit at least 15 minutes.

Tip #4: When carve the turkey take breast off and then start slicing. Take the breast off by slicing it the short way.

He also has two suggestions for delicious sides that will compliment your Thanksgiving Day feast:

Side #1: Crispy brussels sprouts, dusted with an aged cheese, fry in olive oil then finish with lemon, sea salt and cheese.

Side #2:  Turnip gratin with cream, cheese, rosemary, truffles and roast like a potato.

As you can see, the Fox 29 team loved Patrick’s early Thanksgiving Day treat as they dug right in the plate he prepared for them!

Election Day Coverage at Night Kitchen Bakery!

Hurricane Sandy was a tropical cyclone that devastated much of New Jersey, parts of New York, and wreaked havoc throughout the Northeast. The Breslow Partners team was so fortunate to have remained safe throughout the storm. We would like to express our deepest sympathies to those affected by the devastation, and hope that your families are safe and sound!

Governor Chris Christie, one of Romney’s top supporters, has been quoted praising President Obama for his work and support of New Jersey throughout Hurricane Sandy and the recovery process. He said, “It’s been very good working with the president. He and his administration have been coordinating with us. It’s been wonderful.” We’re sure this has many wondering how this will affect the election today!

This has certainly been an interesting election campaign for both candidates! We have been watching closely, especially because Night Kitchen Bakery has been conducting a Straw Poll since August! They have been making shortbread cookies with vanilla icing. The blue cookies are for Obama and the red ones are for Romney. Obama has been consistently winning throughout the Chestnut Hill bakery’s poll, and this week the numbers spiked to 1,112 for Obama and 163 for Romney.

If the Night Kitchen Bakery’s polls are anything like the election, then Obama will be winning by a landslide! We cannot wait to find out who the next President will be. If you’re looking for a great way for your children to cast their vote today, why not do so with a delicious candidate cookie?

A tasty lunch break at Surah

The Japanese styled pancake with pork belly, cabbage, pickled ginger and dried bonito flakes.

The Breslow Partners team ate lunch at the recently opened Surah Restaurant in Spring House, PA and it was certainly a treat! Surah is Japanese restaurant that incorporates Korean dishes for a unique dinning experience that you simply have to taste.  First out from the kitchen was a spicy, crunchy tuna roll and a sweet potato roll. All sushi rolls come out in a personalized lunch box, and both offered variety in texture and flavor! Sushi can be filling, but not enough to keep us from digging into Okonomiyaki, which is a Japanese style pancake with pork belly, cabbage, pickled ginger, dried bonito flakes. This pancake was so rich in flavor and even put on a show! The bonito flakes danced all throughout the meal! As if that wasn’t enough, we also tried their LA Galbi (sweet and succulently flavored short ribs) with a side of iceberg lettuce, and soybean sauce to make lettuce wraps. On the side was a salad flavored with a kick! We left extremely satisfied and a craving for more of the delicious flavors Surah had to offer! Surah is definitely a place you’re gonna want to check out!

Surah  is located at 1121 N. Bethlehem Pike, Spring House PA 19477 and is open Monday through Sunday, 11 am to 10 pm. Call 267-470-4310 for reservations. For more information, visit www.surahpa.com.

Grilling Fruit for FOX29

If you missed Chef Patrick Feury of Nectar Restaurant this morning on Fox29, here are some tips for grilling this summer from the chef himself. Patrick made a delicious fruit salsa with grilled mango, pineapple, and papaya.

Start with fresh, ripe fruit, drizzle it with a little olive oil and throw it on the grill just long enough to leave grill marks. The smoky flavor of the grill complements the sweet taste of the fruit for a perfect summer time treat. But even better, Patrick diced the grilled fruit, threw in some grilled onions, cilantro jalapenos, Thai basil and mint for a fresh and savory salsa. Keep it healthy and grill up some papadum (a thin, crisp Indian chic pea tortilla) for chips and woolah, a colorful and mouthwatering spread that’s also healthy – perfect for lunch or a summertime picnic.
