With the roadblocks going up and Porta-Potties lining our streets, the final countdown to the papal visit has officially begun. While we all may be feeling a little claustrophobic already, there are plenty of wonderful bars and restaurants open over Pope-weekend that are ready and willing to help all of us stuck Philadelphians forget about all of the madness.
Philly.com is gathering a huge list of the local haunts that are warmly welcoming pilgrims and natives alike through their doors over the next few days of the so-called “Pope-ocalypse”. Our top picks include Hai Street Kitchen on Sansom Street in Center City, and Miles Table right by the Lombard-South stop(Although you’ll have to walk until SEPTA’s resurrection). Why these two? They fulfill the Holy Trinity of the Hungry: Cheap, fast, and delicious.
If you’re wanting more of an experience, feel free to check out all of the awesome sit-down and bar options, as well as all of the “papal specials”, that are listed. (Bonus: if you don’t see your city pick, you can just have it added.)
Happy wining and dining, Philly, and a warm welcome to Pope Francis!
