Whistle Pig Whiskey & Pig Roast at The Twisted Tail

The Twisted Tail is offering an exclusive whiskey tasting with master distiller Dave Pickerell and Whistle Pig Whiskey on Thursday, November 5 from 6 – 8 p.m. In addition to the tasting, The Tail will host a pig roast dinner with “southern fixin’s.” Affectionately known as “Mr. Whiskey,” Pickerell spent fourteen years as the master distiller at Maker’s Mark and has a tattoo of George Washington’s own rye still on his arm. He’s as authentic as you can get, and he’s here in Philly at The Twisted Tail!

Linvilla Orchards’ Annual Costume Parade This Saturday!

linvilla All dressed up with nowhere to go? Come to Linvilla Orchards’ annual Costume Parade on Sunday, October 25, 2015! Every last Sunday in October Linvilla hosts ghosts, witches, superheroes, and more as families in costumes come from far and wide to enjoy the music of hosts, Makin’ Music, special superstar guest appearances, a dance party, and, of course, the costume parade itself!

Each child receives a treat from Linvilla. The Grand Prize is a $100 Linvilla Orchards Gift Certificate, and three winners from each age group will also receive a special prize.

 

Linvilla Orchards’ Costume Parade Schedule

  • 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. – Registration
    Good Day, Linvilla: Jokes, interviews with kids, parachute fun, jam with Makin’ Music instruments
  • 1:00 p.m. – Special superstar guest appearance!
  • 2:00 p.m. – Dance Party
  • 2:30 p.m. – Line up for the parade
  • 3:00 p.m. – Parade
  • 3:30 p.m. – Makin’ Music performance (or at the end of the parade)

Starting at 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 31st, The Twisted Tail in Society Hill is celebrating the spookiest time of the year with one heck of a hootenanny. Attendees will be entertained by firebreathers, a fortune teller, and live music, along with (of course!) the Tail’s extensive list of bourbons and whiskeys. Costumes are encouraged, but please, leave your horses and wagons hitched outside.

Which Hayride will you take at Linvilla Orchards?

All hayrides start at Pumpkinland (link) and will take you on a 15-20 minute trip throughout the orchards.

  • The Hayrides to the Witch’s House will take you to meet Linvilla’s friendly witch who tells stories and jokes. The hayride ends at a campfire with apple cider and roasted marshmallows. Good for children up to 10 years old. Tickets are $9 each, and rides are available between 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.
  •  The Autumn Moon Hayride is a peaceful journey through the fields at night for the best chance to see a perfect starry night sky. The hayride ends at a campfire with apple cider and the opportunity to roast marshmallows. Tickets are $7.50 each, and rides are available between 5:30 – 8:00 p.m

Things to Do with the Family at Linvilla on a Tuesday

  • While you’re at Linvilla Orchards, be sure to grab a pumpkin from Pumpkinland. There are hundreds available of all shapes and sizes. Open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • It’s the season for Pick-Your-Own Apples. Choose from Mutsu, Stayman Winesap, Jonagold, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Fuji, and Granny Smith apples. $5 per guest plus the price of apples. Open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (or dusk if earlier)
  • The Straw Bale Maze is unique to Linvilla Orchards. Constructed of over 300 bales, you should expect to explore for 30 – 60 minutes. Open from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and is $4 per guest.
  • Stop by the Farm Market for carefully picked produce that is ripe and delicious.  Check out the signature pies, baked goods, salsas, jams, and other local Pennsylvania products.
